PHONE NUMBERS

PHONE NUMBERS

Phone Numbers uniquely identify Phone Users on the GSM or CDMA mobile network. For GSM, the phone number is been integrated in the SIM card while for CDMA it is integrated directly inside the phone or in the R-UIM(Removable User Identity Module).

In Nigerian, Phone numbers have a length of eleven (11) digits long of this format (0xxx xxx xxxx). The first 4 or 5 digit is the Network Dialing Code/Operator Prefix while the remaining numbers are the subscriber numbers. This was structured according to the ITU-T Recommendation E.164 numbering plan for network operators.

Few years ago, when mobile operating companies established mobile services in Nigeria, only a few Nigerians could afford to pay for such services. In the process of time (a short one indeed) many more Nigerians (now a few millions) were subscribed to a GSM operators, as competition among the operators drove the service tariffs down. Before now, the unique first four (4) digits designated to each mobile service provider for assigning unique numbers to their subscribers have not been depleted and so it was very easy to identify which network a caller was subscribed to when you received a phone call or wants to dial a number. Soon afterwards, as the number of subscribers increases the designated first 4 digits of the mobile operators were used up and they were assigned new ones, leading to multiple unique numbers belonging to a mobile service operator. This has made it difficult to identify the different mobile networks. This platform is designed to help you identify the subscriber mobile networks with ease provided the phone number has not undergo Mobile Number Portability.

  1. This is really cool app.
At last I can now afford to reserve some of my brain's memory space for other critical task when online rather than having to memorize all the GSM operators prefixes.
The correct operator is now only a buzz away.
A long awaited app. 9ce one.
